Customer Security Tips

Your security is a partnership. Bompai protects your money with bank-grade controls — and these simple habits keep you one step ahead of fraudsters.

Last updated: 01 June 2026

1. Guard your credentials

  • Never share your PIN, password, OTP, BVN or card CVV with anyone — including someone claiming to be from Bompai.
  • We will never ask for your full PIN, OTP or password by phone, email, SMS or chat.
  • Use a strong, unique password for online banking; enable biometric login on the app.

2. Spot phishing and scams

  • Check the sender's email address — official Bompai emails end in @bompaimfb.com.
  • Do not click links in unexpected messages; type bompaimfb.com directly into your browser.
  • Be suspicious of "urgent" requests, prize notifications and "account suspended" alerts.
  • If in doubt, hang up and call our official number +234 (0) 800 BOMPAI.

3. Card, ATM and POS safety

  • Cover the keypad when entering your PIN.
  • Inspect the ATM for loose parts or hidden cameras (skimmers).
  • Never let your card out of sight at a POS terminal.
  • Sign up for SMS/app alerts so you see every transaction in real time.

4. Mobile and device hygiene

  • Download the Bompai app only from the official App Store or Google Play.
  • Keep your phone OS and apps updated; install a reputable antivirus.
  • Lock your phone with a strong passcode and biometrics.
  • Avoid logging in to banking apps over public Wi-Fi.

5. If something feels wrong — act fast

  • Dial *977*911# from the registered phone to block your account instantly.
  • Call +234 (0) 800 BOMPAI (24/7).
  • Walk into any Bompai branch or message us in the app.
  • Report attempted fraud to the EFCC and NPF Cybercrime Centre.
